Will you do better, worst, or just as you did in 2016? Will you retain personnel or slash headcount? Will you include new technologies? Will you modify your communications and marketing strategies? These were some of the questions with which AUNO Abogados travelled the continent surveying law firms.
These were the main answers.
Jaime Carey I Carey (Chile)
Despite the Chilean economy currently going through a slowdown, we believe 2017 will be a good year for Carey. Thanks to the complete range of practice we have, if an economic sector suffers a decline, we can redirect our lawyers to another sector with a heavier workload. We hope this year, just like 2016, shows strength in the energy, environment, and natural resources sectors (especially in water-related matters,) as well as in the tax and labour sectors, on account of amendments to local legislation.
On the other hand, having a strong litigations area allows us being countercyclical.
It is a well-known fact that, when the economy enters a decline, bankruptcies, restructurings, and commercial litigations, by and large, increase.
At our firm, the use of technology is an absolute priority insomuch as it helps us enhance the quality of the services we render to our clients.
This year we will be investing in enhancing our collection system.
As for communications and marketing, we seek to always be at the forefront and, to these ends, our concern is to continue working in everything that allows us delivering products with a real added value to our clients, such as the mini websites we implemented on the tax and labour reforms in Chile.
