Jaime Carey joins IBA’s gender equity initiative

Jaime Carey, Managing Partner of Carey, Chile’s largest law firm, has recently joined the Male Champions for Change Ambassador Corps, an initiative created by the International Bar Association (IBA), through its Women Lawyers’ Committee (WLC), aiming to level the playing field in the legal profession and inspire leaders to work to achieve gender equity. This initiative engages highly respected law firm and legal sector leaders who act as “ambassadors” in promoting gender parity, recognizing the role of men as catalysts to effect change.

Our Managing Partner, along with other 11 lawyers from around the world, will help enhance the role of women lawyers through different activities. The group’s functions include promoting gender parity change in the legal profession, providing insight, advice, and best practices from a male law firm leader perspective, participating in seminars and roundtables as male advocates, among others.

At Carey we are committed to diversity, gender equity and inclusion. “To achieve more parity at the top, gender equity initiatives must have the robust support not only of women, but of men and especially those who are already in leadership positions. If the pandemic taught us something is that change is not only possible, but necessary. I am very honored and feel a great responsibility as a part of this group and the work that the IBA is doing to bring attention to issues of gender and diversity in the legal world”, said Jaime Carey.
